Questions about the crossing

If your question is particular to your trip, add it to the notes of a quote request and your advisor will answer it with the options.

Time and range

How long is the flight from London to New York?

Nonstop westbound, roughly 7 h 30 to 8 h 30 depending on the winds. The eastbound return is usually around an hour shorter. Each planned fuel stop adds about an hour.

Which aircraft fly it nonstop?

Ultra long range and large cabin jets on most days. Super-midsize jets usually cross eastbound nonstop; westbound, the longer-range models often manage it with a light load, especially outside winter.

Where do fuel stops happen?

Usually at Shannon in Ireland, Keflavik in Iceland, or Gander or Goose Bay in Canada. Which one depends on the aircraft, the winds and the day.

What is the time difference?

New York is normally five hours behind London. For a few weeks in March and around the end of October the difference is four hours, because the two countries change their clocks on different dates.

Arrival and documents

Which New York airport should I choose?

Teterboro for Manhattan, White Plains for Westchester and Connecticut, JFK for onward airline connections. Tell us where you are heading and we will suggest one.

How do customs and immigration work?

You clear US Customs and Border Protection at the arrival airport. The operator files the passenger manifest before departure, which is why we need passport details in advance. Each traveller needs a passport and the right entry authorisation, such as an ESTA or a visa.

Can we bring a dog or cat?

Often, if the operator agrees and the animal meets the entry rules of the country you are flying into. The paperwork takes time, so mention it at the start of planning.

Price and booking

What does a London to New York charter cost?

For flight time alone, roughly $48,750 to $80,750 one way in a super-midsize jet and $63,750 to $110,500 in a large cabin jet, before taxes, fees and repositioning. A quote gives the exact all-in figure.

Is a one-way crossing more expensive?

It can be, if the aircraft must return empty and that cost is built in. If the operator has a booking for the way back, the one-way price is lower. Transatlantic empty legs exist and reward flexible dates.

Who operates the flight?

A certificated operator: an FAA Part 135 carrier, or a UK or European operator with an Air Operator Certificate. Private Jet London to New York arranges the trip as a broker; the operator is named in your quote.

Do I need to join or pay anything to get a quote?

Nothing at all. There is no membership or deposit; payment follows only when you sign the charter agreement for your crossing.
